Ashley Atwood is an associate attorney advising venture-backed companies, founders, and investors on a range of corporate, transactional, and regulatory matters. Her practice focuses on emerging companies and growth-stage businesses, including those operating in highly regulated industries such as healthcare and consumer health.
Ashley represents startups and private equity–backed platforms in acquisitions, financings, restructurings, and day-to-day corporate matters. She works closely with founders and management teams to navigate legal and strategic challenges across the business lifecycle, from early-stage formation through expansion and exit.
She also brings experience advising on complex regulatory frameworks, including corporate practice of medicine, fee-splitting, licensing, and FDA-related considerations. Her background allows her to provide practical, business-oriented guidance to companies operating at the intersection of innovation and regulation.
Prior to joining the firm, Ashley represented hospitals, healthcare companies, and providers in regulatory compliance matters, including Stark Law, the Anti-Kickback Statute, HIPAA, and state law requirements, and assisted clients in responding to government investigations and audits. She also has experience advising on general corporate transactions, entity structuring, and governance matters.
Ashley earned her J.D., cum laude, from SMU Dedman School of Law, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the SMU Science & Technology Law Review.
She holds a B.B.A. in Finance and a B.A. in Psychology from Southern Methodist University.
